The musical journey of viennese tenor Angelo Pollak started at the age of six when he was accepted at the gifted promotion program for cello and piano at the University for Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. While still studying with Heinrich Schiff, Wolfgang Herzer and Alma Sauer he performed at the Wiener Konzerthaus, Musikverein Vienna, recorded for ARTE and ORF and was awarded various prizes. After graduating from highschool he started his singing studies with Margit Klaushofer at the University of Music and Arts in Vienna, where he completed sucessfully his master studies with Charles Spencer. At the same time, he began studying economics at the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration to learn the basics of business administration. Furthermore, Angelo Pollak attended Masterclasses with Sir Andras Schiff, Peter Schreier, KS Robert Holl, KS Brigitte Fassbender, Rudolf Jansen and Helmut Deutsch.

The young tenor gained further experiences at the Vienna State Opera (Traumfresserchen, Aladdin). In summer 2013, he debuted at the Salzburg Festival in Wagners Meistersinger under the baton of Daniele Gatti. In november 2014 the young tenor and his sister Fiona (piano) were awarded first prize at the festival Vocallis in Vaals and third prize at the international Song-Duo competition in Enschede (Netherlands). After that he sang the role of Tamino in Mozarts magic flute at the Schlosstheater Schonbrunn in Vienna. In the season 2015/16 Angelo performed song recitals with KS Robert Holl at several Schubertiaden and gave his opera debut at the Theater and der Wien under Bertrand de Billy and also sang the magic flute at the Daegu Operahouse in Korea. Shortly after that he reached the finale at the renowned Schumann song competition in Zwickau (Germany).

In 2016 Angelo Pollak joined Theater Regensburgs ensemble where he could be heard in various roles such as Tamino, Lyonel (Martha), Steuermann (Flying Dutchman), Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni) or Aturo (Lucia di Lammermoor). He starred in the critically acclaimed worldpremiere of „the banality of love“ by the Israeli composer Ella Milch-Sheriff, directed by Itay Tiran. He worked with renowned directors such as KS Brigitte Fassbender, Stefan Herheim, Aron Stiehl, Itay Tiran, Hendrik Müller and Tatjana Gurbaca.

In season 2018/19, Angelo Pollak (beside Theater Regensburg) was heard at the Fronhof OpenAir Festival in Augsburg where he performed the role of Tamino in a concertante „Magic Flute“ and also the role of Belmonte in „the Abduction from the Seraglio“ at the SR Klassik See Festival, Saarland. In December he made his debut as Don Basilio and Don Curzio with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra under Jonathan Nott.

The sought-after concert singer, Angelo Pollak has a wide repertoire in sacred music and regularly performs at St.Stephans Cathedral or Augustiner Church in Vienna. In the past, he could be heard amongst others in a recital at Vincenza Festival accompanied by Sir András Schiff and at the opening of the famous Salzburg Festival together with KS Robert Holl in Haydns Creation and performed several song-recitals with KS Robert Holl. Other highlights included his debuts in the Golden Hall of the Musikverein Vienna, Brucknerhaus Linz, Tchaikovsky Conservatory Moscow or the Eilat-Musik-Festival in Isreal together with his sister playing the piano.

In March 2019 he performed his first song recital with great success in the Musikverein vienna and shortly after he made his debut in zurich with the St. John Passion under the baton of Florain Helgath and with the La Scintilla. In winter 2019 he will perform Nathanel in a production of Frederic Wake-Walker of Lazarus by Franz Schubert under the baton of Trevor Pinnock and with the Kammerakademie Potsdam.

The season 2019/2020 will continue to be exciting for the lyric tenor. First time as a freelance artist and aside from various concerts he will make his debut at the Mozartwoche in Salzburg under Sir András Schiff, who will conduct his first opera performance which will be directed by Rollando Villazon. In addition he will participate in his first CD production. All Mozart masses will be recorded together with the WDR choir, the vocal ensemble Kolner Dom, the boys choir Kolner Dom and the Cologne Chamber Orchestra by the label Naxos. In the course of this there will always be concerts as well as next year at the Kolner Philharmonie.

Angelo Pollak is the first classical musician on the german speaking 30 under 30 Forbeslist. 30 Under 30 is a brand created by Forbes. Every year since 2012, young people are presented who are doing great and who are pioneers in their field. Economics, science, technology, art or sport. In this context, Pollak lectures at various festivals or summits, such as “the Women’s Summit 2019″ (theme: women in the music world) by Forbes or the „Ammerseerenade“ (theme: symbolic power in Schubert’s songs). He also gives Masterclasses for Voice and musical Interpretation.

The early intensive examination of mental training according to the Orloff-Mental System, which was developed together with a psychology team at the Cologne Sports University and transferred from sports mental training to the music education practice, is an important part of his lectures and is applicable in all areas. In the winter of 2019 Angelo Pollak will give a lecture and a workshop at the international Forbes Summit „30 under 30“ in Berlin on the topics „strong appearance, presentation and mental strategy in lectures“.
